Extension Day 2 – Saturday, April 12th – Lisbon

  • Palácio Ludovice Wine Experience Hotel R. de São Pedro de Alcântara 39, 1250-237 Lisboa Portugal (map)

Lisbon, one of Europe’s oldest cities, spans seven hills which offer character and stunning views at every turn. Begin the day with a visit to one of the world’s most significant private art collections, the Gulbenkian Museum.

This afternoon, explore three of Lisbon's most vibrant districts: Chiado, Bairro Alto, and Príncipe Real. We'll take a break for some free time, giving you the chance to experience Portuguese café culture and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Along the way, discover fantastic shopping, from art and antique galleries to unique designer boutiques and a Saturday pop-up vintage market. In the late afternoon and evening, Lisbon is yours to explore at your own pace.

Breakfast

Morning - Meet in the lobby to depart for Gulbenkian Museum

This morning, we’ll visit the Gulbenkian Museum with our expert guide and art historian, Valter who will add context during our tour of works spanning 5,000 years of history—from Ancient Egypt to the early 20th century.

Tram & walking tour of Lisbon’s iconic districts

Despite its hilly terrain, the city is surprisingly walkable, aided by charming funiculars and trams. One must be willing to climb a few inclines here and there, but the reward is worth it with beautiful surprises and scenery. Today we will do just that, exploring three of the city's most popular districts on foot and by tram.

Lunch - Free time for lunch built into the tour

Afternoon - Continue our tour of Lisbon’s iconic districts

On Saturdays, there’s a vintage and organic market in the garden oasis Jardim do Príncipe Real, a short walk from our hotel, where you can browse through vintage treasures, pour over bric-a-bracs, or shop for local farm produce.

Evening - At leisure

Decide for yourselves whether you wish to delve deeper into Lisbon’s vivid architecture, explore its palaces and flower-filled gardens, or indulge in one of its many acclaimed dining experiences.

We will of course provide you with a curated list of bars and restaurants to consider and are happy to assist with reservations to make your night in Lisbon memorable.
